A selection of 5 images designed for actual size Numicon pieces. Children match Numicon pieces to the pictures (A4 size) or experiment further with numbers by choosing alternative combinations of filling in each picture.
An optional recording sheet is also included within the download to encourage pupils to record which shapes they used and to add them together to find the total. These are great for differentiated learning - LA pupils can focus on matching shapes while HA pupils can extend to number bonds and addition.
The students in my Reception class loved these sheets and would often choose to write down the numeral next to each shape that they used on the original picture sheet, and then count all holes to find the total, recording in whichever way they chose. There are lots of possibilities to explore and secure number sense.
A set of 10 posters to display how many children can play in each area, from 1-10.
Each poster has a photograph featuring the corresponding number of children, to support early number recognition development.
A bank of ‘Next Steps’ statements for EYFS, based on the Early Learning Goals and age band statements from Development Matters. Useful for adding the next steps to observations, as well as for setting targets for parents’ evenings or reports. Designed to help move children on to their ‘next step’ across all 17 areas of learning, as part of teachers’ formative assessment. Also includes Exceeding statements for HA pupils.
10 A4 posters for the numerals 1-10.
Each poster features a Numberblock character, a representation on fingers, and the numeral.
Please note these are not genuine Numberblock characters but a similar version that I created to support number sense.
This Powerpoint activity features a selection of high quality images to support counting in 2s in real-life contexts. Animations demonstrate how to form groups of 2 and numerals appear to count the total. There are 10 slides in total to support ‘skip counting’ to 20.
Shopping lists to display in the Home Corner. Includes versions with and without capital letters for differentiation, and a blank template for children to complete themselves. Lists are numbered 1-7 to support mathematical development, and visual photo cues are alongside words to support reading.
A set of phone numbers for display in the Home Corner - includes ‘Take Away Food’ (with photo support and labels) and fictional character telephone numbers (e.g. Goldilocks, Spiderman, Batman etc.). Designed to support reading and mathematical development in the Early Years.
